Thousands of Airbnb listings have already been taken down in anticipation of the regulations coming into effect. Of the 3,829 total registration applications filed as of Monday, 896 have been reviewed, 290 have been granted, 90 denied and 516 returned to applicants for additional information or corrections, a mayoral spokesman told the Daily News. The number of applications more than doubled from August to the Tuesday start of enforcement, which “will slow average review time,” according to the Office of Special Enforcement. In addition to a $145 fee, applicants can expect a long wait time before getting approved to make rentals.
